The global pandemic has had both positive and negative effects on information technology. Companies haveincreased their need for digital communication and process optimization, but there are too few projectmanagers, consultants, and developers to meet the project challenges. The resource problem in combination with the complex requirements and the increased speed of implementation seems to be an almost unsolvableproblem. Some companies are now using modern low-code platforms to implement the identified requirements in software, also with consultants and specialist departments, which reduces workloads and provides internal speed advantages.
Gardner points to the use of LowCode platforms as an opportunity to efficiently implement digital requirements. He states that the constantly changing requirements for processes and the integration of third parties by digital means can hardly be managed otherwise.
New figures from BITKOM show that the digital industry is on a growth path (Link). The boost that the pandemic has given to the digitization of processes, involvement of third parties, and automation of communication of systems could hardly have been imagined 3-5 years ago.
The challenges facing industry, retail and the digital sector are great, but they are fighting back.
